The international stage for architecture, design & urban design / landscape design is constantly in dialogues with modern philosophy, linguistics, art and film theory. This dialogue is not only about methods in architectural analyzes but also a discussion of the goals and self-understanding of architecture and design.

The goal of the course is to strengthen the PhD students’ knowledge about philosophy and related research methods in architecture, design and urban design/ urban planning. The course will introduce basic terms in the tradition of philosophy. The selected terms are all central for the present theoretical discussion as well as for central research strategies in architecture, design and urban planning.
