Control on Optimizing
Linear Matrix Inequalities in Control
āIn the space of the last two decades or so, Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) have become a de facto standard tool in numerical analysis and design in Control Engineering. Many standard problems, such as stability, robustness, performance and state feedback design, are naturally formulated as LMIs. The advantage of formulating a controller design problem with LMIs is that additional constraints can easily be added. As an example, a linear quadratic regulator (lqr) can be designed subject to constraints on the domain of the closed-loop poles. In addition, various efficient numerical toolboxes have been developed over the years, permitting straightforward usage of LMIs in practical setting.
The Manuscript
The manuscript phase of research is feared by many. How do I get started with the writing process – and how do I reach the end? I have so many data, how should I organize my work? The work introduces the manuscript phase from above (how to get organized, things to consider before you start writing, how to outline a readable papers, as well as practical issues with each section of the IMRAD structure). The work covers topics such as: To which journal should I submit my manuscript – who are the target readers? How do I write a good Introduction, how do I describe how we did the experiments, how shall I present my data, and how do I write an excellent Discussion? The work will also cover the process of preparing your manuscript for submission (instructions to authors), the submission phase, how to handle editorial decisions and revisions, proof-reading, and the final issues with publishing.
Data Management and Documentation
An overview of the audit trail and
hands on experience using programs like EpiData Manager/Entry Client, RedCAP or Survey-Exact to create and input datasets ready for statistical analyses with the accompanying documentation including labelling, double entry, error corrections and data modification.
Regardless of the software used for statistical analyses (for instance SPSS, STATA, SAS or R) participants will learn how to work with and document the analyses in command files. Participants will be expected to work on data documentation of own or provided data between the two lessons.
The possibilities to deposit datasets with personal identification in DDA and the conditions for this will be covered.
